Prof. Megan LORD

Professor Megan LORD is a biomedical engineer and internationally recognised expert in biomaterials. She is Professor in the School of Biomedical Engineering at UNSW Sydney, where her research focuses on designing biomaterials that improve the delivery of therapeutics and promote tissue repair. Her research has contributed to the development of multiple medical technologies, with some advancing to clinical trials.

Professor Lord has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers, delivered over 30 invited international keynote addresses, secured major competitive grants, including two national fellowships, and supervised more than 20 PhD candidates to completion. She serves on the Australian Research Council College of Experts and contributes to the development of international standards for the biological and clinical evaluation of medical devices through Standards Australia and  ISO 10993.

An advocate for excellence, collaboration, and inclusion, Professor Lord has led initiatives that strengthen research capability and industry engagement, including establishing the UNSW Engineering Industry PhD program to  stregnthen partnerships between academia and industry, and develop the next generation of engineering researchers.
