Dr. Elnaz IRANNEZHAD

Elli IRANNEZHAD is a Senior Lecturer in Transport Engineering at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of New South Wales (UNSW). Her research focuses on the automation, digitalisation, optimisation, and decarbonisation of transport and mobility systems, with a particular emphasis on freight transport and logistics. Elli began her professional career in 2005 as a Civil and Road Design Engineer and has accumulated over a decade of industry experience across consulting and government sectors prior to her PhD. She received her PhD in Transport Engineering from the University of Queensland (UQ) in 2018. She served 3 years as Postdoctoral researcher at UQ and 1.7 years as Principal Engineer and Portfolio Leader of Future Mobility at the Australian Road Research Board. In March 2022, she joined the University of New South Wales on a full-time convertible tenure track employment. She teaches three courses in the transportation engineering discipline at UNSW and supervises PhD and Master’s students. In 2025, she was awarded a three-year Australian Research Council Industry fellowship to develop an AI-based digital twin of port logsitics system.
