Prof. Ruina Xu

Professor Xu is currently a professor and the dean of the Department of Energy and Power Engineering in Tsinghua University. She has received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Tsinghua University. Her research aims at improving our understanding of transport dynamics and heat/mass transfer in porous systems at micro/nano scale space and/or at the supercritical pressure conditions. Her research work provides answers to fundamental questions on the Knudsen effect on the flow, heat and mass transfer in the nano/micropores, on the dynamics of single- and multiphase flow at supercritical conditions in the tubes and complex porous network. Visualization experiments, models and theories are all used for the research, such as: core flooding system using Magnetic Resonance Image, micro-model experiments using microscope, CFD, LBM, etc.
