Asst Prof. Youngeun Kim
Assistant Professor, Department of Materials Science and Engineering
Seoul National University
Youngeun Kim is currently an assistant professor at Seoul National University in the department of Materials Science and Engineering. She graduated Carnegie Mellon University with a B.S. degree in Materials Science and Engineering and a double major in Biomedical Engineering. She completed her Ph.D at Northwestern University under the supervision of Prof. Chad A. Mirkin, where she developed precise controllability in nanoparticle superlattices using hairpin DNA strands. Youngeun continued her research as a postdoctoral scholar at Harvard University (Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering), expanding towards synthetic biology and the synthesis of DNA-only nanostructures. Youngeun is one of the co-scientific founders for 3EO Health, Inc., a diagnostics company focused on the development of high-performing low-cost molecular diagnostics kits. Her current research interests are transmutable nanoparticle synthesis and nucleic acid-based diagnostics.
