Prof. SU Hui

Prof. SU Hui is a Global STEM Professor and Chair Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Ocean Science, and Environment and Sustainability at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). She also serves as the Co-Director of the HKUST Space Science and Technology Institute. Prof. Su holds a BSc from Peking University and a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Washington.

Prior to joining HKUST in 2022, she enjoyed a distinguished 17-year career at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) as a principal scientist, twice receiving the NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal (2010 & 2022). Her research primarily focuses on climate change and tropical convection.

A pioneer in aerospace technology, she co-led the launch of the HKUST-FYBB#1 satellite and the "MUSICO" carbon observatory on China’s National Space Station. Furthermore, she is the Founder and Chairwoman of Stellerus Tech, a ClimaTech company utilizing satellite AI to tackle global climate challenges.

Prof. Su was a keynote speaker at the Rising Stars Women in Engineering Workshop in 2023.
