Professor HU Jiangyong is the Director of the Research Cluster in Environmental Sustainability and Center for Water Research in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS), specialising in the field of water treatment and water reclamation. She is also the Director of the Environmental Engineering programme and the Deputy Director of the NUS Environmental Research Institute. She serves as Group Head of Environmental Engineering, Hydrology and Hydraulics, and Climate Change.
She has published about 200 papers in various international journals and acted as Chair/Co-president for various international conferences. She has given more than 70 keynote and invited speeches at various international conferences. She is the Editor, Associate Editor, Guest Editor and Editorial Board Member for various journals. She served as the International Water Association (IWA) Governing Assembly Singapore representative and IWA ASPIRE Council Member. She is currently President of the Environmental Engineering Society of Singapore (EESS), Chair of the IWA specialist group on Assessment and Control of Hazardous Substances in Water (ACHSW) and International Ultra-Violet Association (IUVA) Board Member. She is a fellow of IWA and the Institute of Engineers Singapore. She is a Board Certified Environmental Engineering Member (by eminence), American Academy of Environmental Engineers & Scientists (AAEES), USA. She is also the recipient of the Prosper.net-Scopus Asian Pacific Young Scientist Award in 2009, the Best Environmental Practice Green Apple Award in 2016, and the International Honorary Member Award, AAEES in 2023.
