Dr. Jiayu Song, presently a Research Fellow in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at University College London, is engaged in the advancement of radiative cooling materials for passive cooling applications in diverse domains such as buildings, vehicles, and apparel. She obtained her Ph.D. from the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and subsequently served as a postdoctoral researcher until 2024. In 2020, she enriched her research experience as a visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research. During her research life at HKUST, Dr. Song specialized in the design and synthesis of micro/nanomaterials with controllable wetting characteristics by engineering material topography and chemistry, for the applications of water harvesting, thermal regulation, and the treatment of wastewater and air. Additionally, she possesses expertise in artificial intelligence-based environmental monitoring using machine learning technique.
