Prof. Penny Martens

Prof. Martens received her BS from the Loras College in Engineering Physics, and her MS and Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, USA, both in Chemical Engineering. She took up her academic position at the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney) in Biomedical Engineering in 2003. Her research focuses on the use of biosynthetic hydrogels for a variety of biomedical applications, including diabetes treatment, neural electrodes, and cartilage repair. Prof Martens is the President of the Australasian Society for Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering and is the Associate Dean (PG Research & Training) for the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW Sydney.
